James Tang
<p>James Tang is a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers China. Since joining the team in 2010, he has focused on investments in hardware-related investments – “HardTech” – such as enterprise IT infrastructure (data storage), IoT solutions, disruptive digital devices (wearables, mobile phones, consumer electronics), AR/VR, drones, AI-enhanced robotics, semiconductors, energy storage and sustainability opportunities in Greater China and US.</p>
<p>James supports Aleees, Ambiq Micro, Bloom Energy, Crossbar, DJI, HiWiFi, LuxVue Technology (acquired by Apple), Pavilion Data Systems, Tidal Systems (acquired by Micron Technology), Xinkong and Voltafield as board director/observer/advisor.</p>
<p>Before joining KPCB China in 2010, James was an associate at Vantage Point Venture Partners, where he focused on investments in the sustainability technology and consumer sectors in the Greater China region. Before starting his venture capital career, James was a senior research analyst at McKinsey & Co., with a focus on the telecom, media and high-tech (TMT) industry. He is experienced in TMT industry strategic issues in China, such as market entry, sales and distribution, pricing and mergers & acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior software engineer with a focus on financial industry.</p>
<p>James is a graduate of Shanghai Jiaotong University with a B.S. degree in computer science.</p>
