Web Browsers for AI
Thirty years ago, Kleiner Perkins partnered with a startup called Netscape. At the time, the Internet was in its infancy, and accessible only to those who understood how to use it via command-line interface. Netscape went on to make history by providing the first user-friendly access point to the Internet — the web browser.
Today, an analogous problem exists as we onboard AI agents into our lives. The software we use will present as agents, and all of these agents will need browsers to run in. This is where Browserbase comes in.
As the name suggests, Browserbase’s offering includes a browser. It’s also the infrastructure surrounding the browser, tailored to the needs of developers building agents and web automation products. By providing a scalable, secure, and reliable place for agents to browse the web, Browserbase has seen widespread adoption amongst the emerging landscape of companies building agents. As continued AI improvements accelerate the capabilities of agents, we believe Browserbase will play a pivotal role in enabling their future.
Today, Browserbase announced its Series A financing, co-led by Kleiner Perkins. This comes after we led their Seed earlier this year. We are proud to continue our partnership with Paul and team in pursuit of building an enduring company that makes history of its own.
